BASIC GUIDES
It Depends
is always the answer but there are a few basic instructions we can follow as a rule of thumb and if these don't help you, reach out.
Ways to take a remedy
These are the main way I typically recommend remedies:
Dry Dose - a dry dose is taking the pellets on your tongue. I recommend 2 pellets per dose. I commonly use this for a test dose or for acute situations.
4 dose rule: you can give a dry dose up to 4 times. If, after 4 doses, nothing about your symptoms has improved, they you should contact me or move on to the back up remedy if it has been provided.
If the remedy is helping, I usually recommend taking its "as needed" in a water dose (see "Dilution" below). This means that as long as symptoms are improved, you do not need to take more, but if the symptoms stall or regress, the take another dose. This could be hourly, or daily.
Split Dose - this is 2 dry dose given about 12 hours apart - for instance one dose in the evening and the second dose the following morning. This is also commonly give or acutes or for a flare up of a chronic condition.
Dilution - add 2 pellets to 4oz of water. Take 1 tsp as a dose. if the water runs low, then you add more water, but not extra pellets. I use the methods with acutes or with flare ups of chronic conditions.
5th Cup - This is water dilution that "cuts" the effects when a client has an aggravation from a remedy. As short video can be found here.
LM Dilution - This type of dose begins with a bottle of liquid remedy in an LM potency that is obtained form a homeopathic pharmacy. Your "Notes and Recommendation" will provide detailed instructions on how you will be taking this dose. Some things that are usually true about LM Dilutions:
Most common frequency is daily
For liquid remedies, always succuss(firmly tap) the bottle on your hand before placing the drop in water. I will give you the amount of taps, and may change this based on your reaction.
The basic dose is 1 drop in 4oz of water
I may increase the dilution by adding asking you to more water, or sometimes even dumping the water out, adding more water (no remedy) and taking a teaspoon as a dose.
This dosing strategy is most commonly used for chronic care
Oral Spray - this is made my places 2 pellets in a small oral spray bottle and persevering it with 1:5 vodka:water ration. This can be used with cell salts, low potency therapeutics. It is also useful in situations where you must carry the remedy with you, or in cases where we need to prioritize the ease of administration.
Olfaction - this method is taken by sniffing the remedy. Samual Hahnemann introduced this method to us and it proves to be a very effective, easy and gentle way to take a dose of your remedy. I use the method mostly with LM potencies, both in working with chronic and acute illness.
It has been said that all of the nerve ending from the spine are in our nostrils, so sniffing the remedy is a very direct form of administration.
When I recommend this type of dosing, I will typically provide the remedy prepared for olfaction, with pellets dissolved in a small vial with an alcohol base.
The olfaction bottle is always succussed (firmly tapped) on your hand before sniffing. I will prove the amount of taps in your Notes and Recommendation.
One dose is a regular sniff (not an big inhale or a huff)
If gentler dosing is required, reducing taps, or hold the vial further from your nose will soften the effect.
You will need your homeopathy when -
the recommended dosing strategy doesn't work, or stops working.
you notice a new symptom that wasn't there when you started your remedy.
if you feel worse.
